Three Sons closes retail location

Three Sons Lobster & Fish has said little publicly about its eviction from the Maine Wharf, near RiRa's Irish Pub on Commercial Street. But the company did confirm closure of its retail site, a fact easily confirmed by a visit to the store. Red, caution tape is attached across the storefront, and the stairs blocked.Three Sons Lobster & Fish, according to its website (http://www.threesonslobsterandfish.com), started 18 years ago as a smack, or a fishing boat used to transport the catch to market, located off the coast of Cliff Island in Casco Bay. The Three Sons, the name of the boat, would travel to Portland to drop off the catch. Three Sons Lobster & Fish is still located off Cliff Island where in the summer months tourists are welcome to stop by the float and purchase live lobsters right from the smack. But Three Sons Lobster & Fish announced on its Facebook page that its land-based retail location on Commercial Street in Portland on the Maine Wharf is closed.
